Asked by a student why he had chosen to prep college-bound candidates for standardized tests, Bill said, “I’ve always been something of a grammar geek, and I knew that English grammar, usage, and style have long played a part in standardized testing. So it was natural for me to apply my writing expertise to one-on-one instruction. Also, I like the intellectual stimulation of working with smart young people.”
The result has been a highly successful tutorial program for SAT, ACT, and PSAT – focusing on verbal, non-math sections of the tests. Bill’s tutoring during the last 20 years has complemented his wife Pam’s college admissions consulting business (see the link to her The College Hook book and program below). Bill’s graduates include students who have increased their scores by hundreds of points and become National Merit commended students or semifinalists/finalists.
